About the Festival Op de Ring

On June 21st – the longest day of the year – we will celebrate Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary on 15 kilometers of car-free A10 Ring. It’s going to be a truly Amsterdam-style party, with music, sports, dance, art, food and drinks, and much more.

The A10, the place where thousands of cars pass by every day, crossed daily by thousands of Amsterdammers on their way to work, school, or anywhere else, and back home again. For one day, it will be the place where Amsterdammers come together to celebrate 750 years of Amsterdam. To have fun, with old friends and new acquaintances, to experience special things and create new memories. For one day, it will no longer be ‘inside the ring’ or ‘outside the ring’, but ‘On the Ring.’

The Background

The idea for a large, freely accessible celebration on the Ring was first conceived 10 years ago by a group of over 100 Amsterdammers, united under the name ‘Amsterdam on the way to 750 years.’ The preparations for the festival are currently in full progress. The Municipality of Amsterdam is working together with, among others, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Rijkswaterstaat, safety and transport partners, and with creative organizations, sports clubs, and cultural institutions from the city. The development of the program and production is being handled by five Amsterdam-based event producers: Tribe Company, Kingcanary, BEE-Agency, Backbone International, and Skills Crowd Management.
