This was Festival Op de Ring

04 July 2025

Over 200,000 visitors came together on 21 June 2025 to celebrate one of the highlights of Amsterdam 750 on 15 kilometers of car-free A10. It was a beautiful day — an unforgettable and joyful celebration.

The festival kicked off in the morning with the Run Op de Ring, followed by 20 weddings, lots of sports, music, dance, fashion shows, workshops, children’s activities, and even a beautiful forest installation on the southern part of the ring road.

It was a tropically warm day, which presented some extra challenges. Fortunately, visitors followed the advice to prepare for the heat. Most areas were busy but manageable. Only at Audio Obscura did the crowds grow so large that some visitors climbed over the fences. For safety reasons, the event was temporarily paused at that location. With the support of additional police and security, the final half hour of the festival was able to continue there in a safe and festive manner.

While it was crowded in parts of the city and around the ring, the festival did not cause major traffic issues, either in the city or beyond. Dismantling went smoothly, and the A10 fully reopened to traffic on Sunday afternoon around 3:30 PM.

We thank all the visitors, staff, volunteers, and everyone else who contributed to celebrating Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary in such a wonderful way.
